On the 19th of June 2008 485 (Harborne and Quinton) Squadron Air Training Corps visited Woodgate Valley Fire Station. The cadets had a tour around the fire station and had the chance to use some of the firefighting equipment.
They were shown a video about how fires spread, and had a tour of the fire engine. They also had the opportunity to experience a simulation of a fire in a dark house and got to use a state of the art thermal imaging camera as the walked towards a simulated "fire" and had to locate a casualty in the room.
Whilst the cadets were at the station they had the chance to ask firefighters a few questions about the job. It proved to be a very informative visit.
Plt Officer R said, “It was a real eye opener to the safety in and around the home and the roles and responsibilities of the fire services.”
